September 9, 2014 … start the day humming

And still the rebound continues.

neither meadows nor corn are in view but there’s definitely a bright golden haze.

Perhaps a dose of sunshine and calm is helping, but there is a sense of well-being in the air. The very first look at the new day revealed a golden haze  that had me humming tunes from “Oklahoma”.  What a great start.

Oriental Bay

Oriental bay coolness

In the city, at Oriental bay, things were less crowded than the previous day. Perhaps it was a work day that made the difference, but those who, like me, were free to be where they wanted to be, seemed to be enjoying life.

Container ship departure

Across the harbour, the container ship, Hansa Century was preparing to leave port with the aid to two tugs. I think the cloud of smoke is that initial burst of smoke that seems to occur every time a large marine diesel starts up.

Harbour panorama

The grand sweep of things seemed worthy of a panorama attempt, so this image is a stitch of four separate images. I love Wellington.

That’s all for today.

About wysiwygpurple

Retirement suits me well. I spend much of my time out making pictures, or at home organizing and refining my pictures. This blog provides me with a platform from which I can indulge my passion for improving my photography and at the same time analyze my thoughts about what I have seen, where I have been and what is happening in my life. My images set out to be honest, but that does not mean I have not adjusted them. I use software to display what I saw though the viewfinder to best advantage. My preference is for landscape and nature, and is mostly centred around my hometown of Wellington, New Zealand.
